Y10 Seascape Assessment Planning

Over half term you should be completing any outstanding work (see chart below) and complete planning for your Seascape Assessment -you should use artists that you have studied in class or found yourself, and use photos from our trips as source materials. The work can be in any media and size should be A3 - A1.

You are required to complete 2xA3 or 4xA4 pages of studies/plans and be ready to start your work on Wednesday 6th Nov.  Your assessment will be completed over the next five lessons - you will not be allowed the use of a phone/computer (unless you are completing a photographic response for this project) - so please print up any photographic sources. You will have an opportunity to discuss your plans with me/ stretch paper/ and sketch out your outcome onto paper or canvas during the Monday lesson.

Y11 Art Homework

Y11 Homework - You should be writing a homework which you agree with me each week and write it into your A4 folder by Friday - the following Thursday you will review what you achieved and how you can add/improve it via class marking/ peer / self / teacher feedback. Below gives you suggestions of what you should be doing each week.


Week 1 and 2  AO1 (Develop) 16 – 27 Sept
Mind Map, Mood Board,  Artist Mood Board, Artist Research,  Art Movement.
Use a range of media.

Week 3 and 4 AO3 (Recording) 30 Sep -11 Oct
Make more critical choices, look closely at what is relevant  - draw ideas
Photograph and make images intended to develop ideas
Make studies from direct observation
Detailed responses to artists work inspired by style or technique.
Annotate your work - explain likes and dislikes. Suggest further options to develop ideas further.

Week 5 (Refine) 14- 18 Oct + October half term
Experiment with different materials - collage chalk charcoal ink acrylic mixed media watercolour oil pastels biro, printmaking
Make some work in the style of the artist you have looked at
Try out ideas for final piece consider different options
Try out different colour schemes
Try out different compositions
Try out different backgrounds

Week 7 and 8  (Present ) 4 – 22 Nov
Draw out plan of final piece
Write briefly about your idea and describe how it relates to the work of artists studied
Enlarge sections and practice using media materials and techniques you are going to use in the exam
Practice subject matter that could be difficult e.g. face or hands
Make sure you have good quality photos to work from which are printed for the exam or the real thing
Discus you plan with your art teacher to get advice and tell you art teacher if you require any special materials at least 1 week prior to the exam.

10 Hour Exam  (end of Nov beginning of Dec)  over two days
You must discuss your ideas and bring in all your preparatory work at the start of the exam.

Y10 Autumn 1 Homework


Homework - 1 Due Friday 4th for colour art work & Monday 7th for writing
Complete a colour study from Len Tabner or Kurt Jackson - you can hand write or type brief info about the artist but more importantly write about his style of work and how you have experimented with materials and composition.  Include at least one painting or oil pastel or mixed media piece of work in colour on your page.



Homework - 2 Due Friday 11th October                                                                                          
Complete at least 1 A3 page on the East Dene trip which includes some photos, sketches and one detailed colour image from the exhibition.



Homework - 3 Due Friday 18th October   
Create a response to one of the artists that you see at Tate Britain or from your Tate mood board.                                                                                     



Challenge - Due any time in October                                                                                                   
Create your own artwork (textiles, printmaking, photography, sculpture, mixed media) based on the sea. Experiment with different materials and papers to create your studies. Look at examples online for ideas of layout and experimentation.
